Acupressure, the little sister of acupuncture
1. What is acupressure actually?
A healing method of over 5,000-year-old Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The body contains energy pathways (meridians) through which our life energy (Qi) flows. According to the teachings of acupressure, these 12 energy pathways are associated with our organs. If this energy flow and distribution are imbalanced, our well-being and health are affected.
With the right technique and the ideal instrument, these energy flows can be stimulated and various ailments can be alleviated.
2. How and where is acupressure applied?
Acupressure involves applying pressure to specific acupressure points. The human body has 361 of these points.
3. Basic rules
If you practice acupressure gently, it has no side effects. However, you should keep the following in mind:
- strong pressure can cause bruises
- do not perform on inflamed areas of the body
- problematic during pregnancy, as some methods can have a direct impact on your uterus.
For further information on acupressure or acupressure points, we recommend consulting in-depth literature, doctors, or specialists.
